Competitive Herding Lessons

When you are ready to train for the sport of herding, we have proven methods for success.

At Ewetopia we have over 30 years of experience in training both traditional herding breeds and mixed herding breeds.

The majority of our competition students participate in one of three organizations: the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) which allows both pure breed and herding mix breeds; American Kennel Club (AKC) which is limited to specific herding and working breeds; and the American Herding Breed Association (AHBA) program (check the website for allowable breeds). Our students successfully take part at all levels in all the organizations, on all types of stock, and all types of courses.

Just check out the pages and pages of students accomplishments at the  Hall of Fame  and you’ll be amazed at all the different breeds that do so well out here. Many of our dogs are ranked at the top of their breed.

We have over 100 students a week that attend herding lessons with the goal of competing in the sport of herding. Many of these loyal students have been coming out once or twice a week for over ten years and are on their third or fourth dog. Many travel from as far away as Eastern Washington, Oregon, Canada and even California.

Our Policy for  Herding Students

We have the right to refuse service to you if you have your own agenda.  If you plan on entering tests/trials before we feel you are ready, then you need to get another instructor who doesn’t care that you will look ill-prepared and out of control.  Not to mention, how badly your breed will be represented and that your dog will become trial wise.

We deliberately limit the number of clinics and trials at which we compete or judge so that we can devote our energy to you, our student.  Our experience is that students using many different instructors tend to confuse both their dog and themselves. In the past we have been frustrated by having to fix problems created elsewhere.  Much of our referral business is for exactly this situation.  For this reason we ask that you agree to exclusively use our instructing services for the duration of your herding training with us.
